To ensure everyone's safety and create a pedestrian-friendly atmosphere, the city centre will be temporarily closed to traffic; for more info, click here.

Starting from 7:00 in the morning on Saturday, August 19, the closures will be in effect, allowing everyone to freely roam and enjoy the festivities. Don't worry, though! By around 1:00 after midnight, the city centre will once again open its streets to car traffic.
On the same day from 8:40 am, the yearly Reykjavik Marathon will be starting as it has since 1984, with around 16.000 participants it has become one of the most popular activities of the day on Cultural Night. For more info on the Reykjavik Marathon, click here.
